Indie

The Genre I chose was Indie/ska. Part of the reason I chose this genre is because I enjoy this music. Another reason is due to the fact that I enjoy that style of music. It's quirky and fits well enough with fashion as its not to light.

Conventions of Indie:

Indie is short for independent.

This type of music emerged in the mid 80's. Sometimes these 'underground' artists breakthrough and are big but part of the essence of being truly 'indie' is that you are sort of unknown by choice or that you are heard but because you are different. It is largely defined in its rejection of the commercialism of mainstream culture.
