I took a little over 200 photos. Later I narrowed it down and ended up with a good 50. From there I had to pick one from each 'artist' to put on my contents page. I took some in black & white which was nice because it looked better and I ended up changing all of the supporting images on my contents page to black & white (either they were taken that way or photoshopped to be).

Image Ideas For Table Of Contents
By my layout of my contents page I know that I need 6 images. I've decided to have 1 larger image and then 5 smaller images. The larger image is going to be Siobhan who is my main artist. I want to even out social groups as well as gender in this section of my magazine. I know I'll need at least one male image (boyband) to help even out the feminine EVERYTHING. I'll then also need female poses and images and to decide whether to have Siobhan inside or outside for her image.

Conventions of Contents Page
You're average contents page has the word contents on it in big letters to let you know where it is easily. It then is broken down into subheadings with a main image and possibly supporting smaller images.

Masthead Fonts
Fonts were difficult for me because getting them to look somewhat mature but eye-catching and fun is a lot more of a challenge than I thought it would be.
For my masthead I had a clear idea of what I wanted in my head so I tried drawing it out a bit. Once I did that I went onto dafont.com and looked at their tons of fonts to see what ones I preferred.Cover Photoshoot
Here's the main images I narrowed my photoshoot down to for my cover. I ended up using the last image.
Cover Artists
Instead of headlines I like where they list artists so you get a preview:
Some artists I might like to include are:
Imogen Heap
and then I'm going to use the actual names of a few of the people I photograph. This works because indie artists are not always known and it's all about finding them.

Mood Board
I like how this magazine is so minimalistic in text. and the image is the focus.
I like this magazine style because they list the artists.
I haven't quite decided if I'm going to have the image overlap the masthead or not.
I also havent quite decided whether to have a full body image or a close up on the face which is more conventional I think.
Name
The name I've chosen for my magazine is:
Ticked
I chose this because I was sitting in a group and asked what they all thought I should call an Indie/Ska magazine. After we all discussed it we came up with:
Klix--off of the hot drinks machine...
Ticked--the one 9 out of 10 of us liked best. ticks and beats go with music.
Muse-- Relates back to ancient times (hercules; the muses)
Quirk--Indie usually quirky
Primary target audience::
age- 16-25
gender- mainly female
other interest- in fashion

I like a very feminine color scheme and it matches for the fashion part that I like.
I looked into doing black/white/red but so many magazines used that I decided to steer clear of that combination. Then I considered a peachy color and a turquoise but ended up with my pink/blue/purple.

Indie
The Genre I chose was Indie/ska. Part of the reason I chose this genre is because I enjoy this music. Another reason is due to the fact that I enjoy that style of music. It's quirky and fits well enough with fashion as its not to light.
Conventions of Indie:
Indie is short for independent.
This type of music emerged in the mid 80's. Sometimes these 'underground' artists breakthrough and are big but part of the essence of being truly 'indie' is that you are sort of unknown by choice or that you are heard but because you are different. It is largely defined in its rejection of the commercialism of mainstream culture.

Second Preliminary; Imitation Front Cover
For a 'second preliminary task' we were given an NME cover to imitate as closely as possible. We did this in pairs so that we were learning and teaching each other.
From this task I learned new techniques in InDesign such as shadowing, background coloring around the text, paint brushes and basics around text boxes and paint brushes.
The part that we managed to not imitate well, was the image. We focused for so long on the words that we overlooked the image. It was difficult to copy it just right so that the image fit nicely into the screen (getting close enough to the people) as well as matching things like clothing and even what they look like. We also had difficulty finding a guitar.
Original we had to imitate:
